You can access a built in virtual character map through your computer's programs. For Windows XP you click start>programs> accessories>system tools>character map OR type "charmap" in the run/search program to gain a map of all the accents and more. Method 3:
Another more complex way to type french is by changing your keyboard to be mapped to a french keyboard. There's two problems with this method though; it is more difficult to set up and you need to know the french layout of a keyboard to type efficiently, since some characters are switched around (image below). To change your keyboard you must tweak some settings in the control panel. To get to the control panel just open up the start menu and select "Settings" then "Control Panel" (it may slightly differ on how to get to the control panel on your computer). Follow the rest of the directions below. |
